What is the occupational therapy role?
Occupational therapists aim to provide the infant with the best possible start to life by promoting the engagement, best performance, participation and skill acquisition across the occupations of infancy:
- Self-regulation and arousal
- Interaction, engagement and attachment
- Play
- Feeding
- Sleep
As well as occupations of parenthood which relate to the infant:
- Interaction, engagement and attachment
- Nurturing (feeding, dressing, bathing etc)
