Welcome to Module 5 of the Paediatric Occupational Therapy Infants Course: Assessment and interpretation.

This module will provide a general overview of the assessment process in infant care, delivery and interpretation of subjective and objective assessment and how this relates to the patient’s and family’s experience. Knowledge and understanding of the occupational therapy role and key concepts regarding standardised and non-standardised assessments are covered. Important infant practice concepts and tools are also included.

This module aims to provide an understanding of

  • the assessment experience for the patient and family
  • assessment options and when to apply each option.

Learning outcomes

Following completion of this module the learner should be able to recall:

  • different forms of standardised and non-standardised assessments
  • how and when to apply a range of subjective and objective assessments.
  • interpretation of assessment findings.
