Welcome
Welcome to Module 9 of the Paediatric Occupational Therapy Infants Course: Self-regulation.
This module will provide an overview of self-regulation including the range of infant responses to sensory input. Knowledge and understanding of how to influence arousal for optimal intervention will also be covered. Important infant practice concepts and examples are included.
Learning objective
This module aims to provide an understanding of
- terms used to describe self-regulation and sensory processing in infants
- infant behaviours relating to self-regulation
- the use of sensory input to influence arousal.
Learning outcomes
Following completion of this module the learner should be able to recall:
- how self-regulation relates to infant performance
- strategies to support optimal states and transitions in infants.
- modalities of sensory stimulation which can influence arousal
