The under-sensitive infant
The under-sensitive infant can present as either very busy, seeking sensory input, or disengaged with the environment. Your input may include:
- use of voice in a bright, sharp or articulated manner
- brushing or tapping hands/ body in a light, brisk manner
- vestibular input: usually brisker and in the vertical plane
- helping very busy infants to find calm times in an enjoyable context in order to develop interaction and concentration
