Procedural preparation strategies

Topic Progress:

When preparing for a procedure you should:

  1. choose intervention techniques based on knowledge of the child, including motivators and how they have coped with procedures to date. More guidance is provided in the accordion below.
  1. ensure optimal pharmacological pain relief (where indicated) be given to the child in a suitable time prior to intervention involving any biomechanical 'hands-on' approach i.e. splinting, touching skin for scar assessment, measuring for a compression garment.
