Indicators to cease oedema management
The following are indications that oedema management should cease:
- Oedema minimal/no longer present as determined by measurements
- Return to pre-burn function
Indicators to reconsider choice of oedema management intervention:
- Signs of circulation compromise/altered sensation/pain with oedema management intervention
- Intervention (i.e. bandaging bulk) is impacting on functional use
- Intervention choice not anchoring, rolling or causing child discomfort/pain.
Assess for oedema and effectiveness of interventions at each opportunity to review affected area (ie dressing changes).
