Welcome to Module 5 of the Paediatric Occupational Therapy Burns Course: Interpretation.
This module will take a look at the impact that a burn has on the child and their entire family. It will provide guidance around how different ages express pain, and how a burn can impact and disrupt typical childhood occupations.
Learning objective
This module aims to provide an understanding of how paediatric burns impact children, their families and their engagement in meaningful occupations.
Learning outcomes
Following completion of this module the learner should have an understanding of:
- the impact a paediatric burn can have on the child and family
- the impact of pain on a child and wound healing
- signs of pain and how this differs across ages and developmental stages
- how a burn can interrupt/disrupt a child's engagement in their typical occupations.
