Moulage
Moulage is the art of applying injuries for the purpose of training and is used extensively in simulations to produce realistic training to engage all the senses.1
Creating realistic moulage that replicates true to life injuries helps enhance the sensory experiences of the participant as to what is felt, seen, heard and smelled. For high risk occupations it can also provide a level of stress inoculation.
Moulage can range in complexity from creating simple wounds, to interactive major trauma requiring participants to perform real time clinical interventions.
Moulage assists with the physical signs that provide clues to the patient’s condition and supports decision making, diagnosis and the subsequent patient management.
