SimShop

The SimShop provides an extensive catalogue of simulation equipment and products to support the delivery of in-house training, simulations, workshops, and events through the online SimShop.

When requesting Loan Equipment, ensure the associated consumables are ordered from the Products section as the loan equipment does not come with any consumables. 

 

Both product purchases and equipment loans can be placed under the same order.

All loans and purchases are pending availability.

Top tips

  • Decommissioned equipment for simulation should be marked ‘Not for Clinical Use’.
  • Clinical props from monitors to syringes should be marked ‘Not for Clinical Use’.
  • Power cords and adapters must be locally tested and tagged for electrical safety.

Equipment maintenance

While manikins are serviced annually at CSDS, local simulation coordinators are also expected to perform routine maintenance of CSDS equipment. 

It is important to perform a Quick Check on manikins and part task trainers prior to use.

All equipment should be inspected for condition and functionality regularly.  When conducting Inspection Preventative Maintenance (IPM), ensure that manikins are inspected for condition and complete functionality every three months, and notify CSDS once the inspection is completed.

If a fault is found, it is important to log a repair order with CSDS through CSDSCentral.  Depending upon the fault, CSDS will send a replacement part for local repair, or organise a complete replacement and the return of the equipment to CSDS.

Logging usage

Central Online also gives you options to log maintenance and repairs for your equipment, and manage your usage statistics. 

Equipment usage is an important key performance indicator for us here at CSDS.

We use the data you provide to support your centre and simulation network through:

  • servicing to plan and budget for repairs and service of equipment
  • financial accountability to ensure recurrent funding is allocated for purchasing and maintaining the fleet of simulators
  • equipment distribution to optimise manikin usage, and ensure that equipment is sent to where it is needed.

Resource sharing

CSDS is focussed on building a simulation network across Queensland, and promotes the use of sharing resources for planning and delivering simulation education events.

In CSDSCentral you can search directly for a resource by entering the description of the resource, and either download the resource or mark it as a Favourite for future reference.

You can also upload a resource to share it with other simulation educators.  Add a title, description and tags to your resource to help improve the filters when users are searching for resources. You can also add the name of any contributors to gain full ownership of the materials.
