Assessment is used in simulation education to enhance participants’ learning.
For this to be effective, participants must receive timely feedback on their performance.
Selecting assessment and feedback methods should be determined by the purpose and objectives of the course. Summative and formative assessment may be used for the following purposes:

Summative assessment
- Summarises the development of the learner at a particular time
- Verifies achievement

- Satisfies credentialing requirements
