Immersion

"Immersion and fidelity are two very different words" (Thornton, 2017). Clinical Skills Development Service 2017

Immersion describes the level to which the learner becomes involved in the simulation; a high degree of immersion indicates that the learner is treating the simulation as if it was a real-life (or very close to real-life) event.

Fidelity is the degree to which the simulation replicates the real event and/or workplace; this includes physical, psychological, and environmental elements. A high degree of fidelity can help with immersion during simulation events.
