Translational simulation

Translational simulation focuses on improving healthcare systems and processes by examining the complete system, not just focusing on improving individual or team knowledge and skills as traditional educational simulation has done. Similar to Reflexive simulation Translational simulation requires close relationships with clinical governance and quality improvement services. This integration provides a disciplined approach to the measurement of outcomes.

Translational simulation activities can be used at a specific 'frontline' level, or for a specific patient journey. It can be conducted in situ or in traditional simulation centres if the improvement target can be achieve in that environment.
