Functionality and features

The following skills and procedures can be performed by a learner

  • Head tilt/Chin lift
  • Jaw thrust w/articulated jaw
  • Cricoid pressure and manipulation
  • Bag-mask ventilation
  • Warning: Do not provide artificial respiration to the patient simulator using oxygen enriched air or flammable gases. 
  • Laryngeal mask insertion (size #2.5)
  • Endotracheal tube intubation (Size ID 4.5 mm cuffed and 5.5 mm uncuffed is recommended)
  • Nasotracheal intubation

Vocal sounds include coughing, moaning, screaming and spoken words. These can be heard from the head speaker in the manikin.

Patient Simulated features may be activated to present

  • Tongue oedema (normal, medium and maximum)
  • Foreign body airway obstruction

The following Patient Simulator features indicate incorrect tube placement

  • Right main stem intubation – unilateral chest rise
  • Oesophageal intubation - Stomach distention
