Position patient fully supine or at an angle of 30-45 degrees for comfort
Abduct ipsilateral arm to provide exposure

Abduct ipsilateral arm to provide exposure
Identify the “triangle of safety” to minimise risk to blood vessels, muscle and breast tissue. This is formed anteriorly by lateral border of pectoralis major, laterally by lateral border of latissimus dorsi and inferiorly by the 5th rib.
