Implementation

At this stage of the process, you have a complete course that has been reviewed and is ready for implementation. So now let’s talk about how to implement your training and make sure your simulation education event is a success.

First up, consider who is going to deliver your training?

Any simulation or course should be developed so that facilitators can deliver it with minimal guidance. This requires the development of clear instructions and resources.

A training process should also be implemented to instruct facilitators how to effectively deliver the event.

A training day should involve the course developer or an experienced facilitator to demonstrate how to facilitate all sections and discuss what information to highlight to participants. It should also include instructions on how to use any assessment tools or frameworks.

A buddy process allows the new facilitator to work alongside an experienced facilitator to observe them running the event. The new facilitator should gradually become more involved in the process until they run all aspects of the event under supervision, until the lead facilitator is happy they are competent to deliver the event without support.

Finally, don’t forget to consider the administration requirements when developing simulation events.

The next section provides an in depth overview of what you need to know when planning your simulation, along with a bunch of checklists and templates to help make your next event run smoothly.
