Equipment
All simulation equipment is evaluated, procured, loaned, used, repaired and maintained by CSDS.
Things to consider:
- De-commissioned clinical equipment for simulation should be marked ‘not for clinical use’.
- Clinical props from monitors to syringes should be marked ‘not for clinical use’.
- Power cords and adapters must be locally “Test and Tag” for electrical safety.
CSDS provides an extensive catalogue of simulation equipment loans to support the delivery of in-house training, simulations, workshops, and events.
All simulation equipment is evaluated, procured, loaned, used, repaired and maintained by CSDS.
When requesting equipment loan please ensure you order the associated consumables from the products section of the SimShop. For example, an IO leg insert for ALS Baby or ICC pads for Super Annie.

Equipment maintenance
Local simulation coordinators are expected to perform routine maintenance of CSDS equipment.
When conducting Inspection Preventative Maintenance (IPM), ensure that manikins are inspected for condition and complete functionality (IPM 1) every three months, and you inform CSDS once the inspection is completed.
Manikins are annually serviced at CSDS by certified staff.
Note: It is important to perform a quick check on Manikins and Part Task Trainers prior to course use.
Other things to consider when loaning equipment:
- De-commissioned clinical equipment for simulation should be marked ‘Not for Clinical Use’.
- Clinical props from monitors to syringes should be marked ‘Not for Clinical Use’.
- Power cords and adapters must be locally 'Test and Tag' for electrical safety.
