Course description
The Brief interventions for a healthy lifestyle: Maternity and child health course introduces the concept of brief intervention. It also provides guidance on how you can conduct brief interventions with women about making healthy lifestyle choices.
Modules
Introduction
This module introduces the framework to conduct a brief intervention and support women to make healthy lifestyle choices before, during and after pregnancy.
Physical activity
This module provides a framework to encourage women how to be physically active before, during and after pregnancy.
Oral health
This module provides a framework to educate women on good oral health practises during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Optimal nutrition
This module provides a framework to support women to adopt good nutrition for optimal health for them and their baby.
Alcohol
This module provides a framework to support pregnant and breastfeeding women to achieve an alcohol-free pregnancy.
Weight
This module provides a framework to support women to maintain a healthy weight before, during and after pregnancy.
Other drugs
This module provides a framework to understand the effects of different drug types on women and their babies before, during and after pregnancy.
Child health
This module provides a framework to how to support healthy growth and development in infants and young children.
Tobacco
This module provides a framework to support pregnant and breastfeeding women to quit smoking.
